LHC synchronization test successful

The synchronization of the LHC's clockwise beam transfer system and the rest of CERN's accelerator chain was successfully achieved last weekend. Tests began on Friday 8 August when a single bunch of a few particles was taken down the transfer line from the SPS accelerator to the LHC.

After a period of optimization, one bunch was kicked up from the transfer line into the LHC beam pipe and steered about 3 kilometres around the LHC itself on the first attempt. On Saturday, the test was repeated several times to optimize the transfer before the operations group handed the machine back for hardware commissioning to resume on Sunday.
The anti-clockwise synchronization systems will be tested over the weekend of 22 August.

La sincronización de las agujas del reloj del LHC haz sistema de transferencia y el resto del acelerador del CERN fue la cadena con éxito logrado el pasado fin de semana. Las pruebas se inició el viernes 8 de agosto, cuando un solo grupo de unos partículas fue tomada por la transferencia de la línea de MSF para el acelerador LHC.

Después de un período de optimización, fue un montón de patadas hasta la línea de transferencia en el LHC del haz de tuberías y dirigió alrededor de 3 kilómetros en torno a la propia LHC en el primer intento. El sábado, el ensayo se repitió en varias ocasiones para optimizar la transferencia antes de que el grupo entregó las operaciones de la máquina de nuevo hardware para la puesta a reanudar el domingo.

El anti-sistemas de sincronización del reloj se pondrá a prueba el fin de semana del 22 de agosto.
