NASA Solar Dynamics Observatory (Little SDO)

Active Region 1678 has been producing many small solar flares over the past 14 hours. A closer look at this region from 02:17 through 16:49 UT on February 20, 2013 shows the various B and C-class solar flares. None of them have a big impact on Earth.

At the same time, above the solar surface and the solar limb there is a dance of plasma, suspended by the magnetic field lines of the Sun.

It's a true pop and dance.
